Alex provides a pretty effective framework to approach writing a strategy document that consists of 4 parts:
1. **The Strategy Argument**
- Explain one's read of the situation
- The status quo
- Observations of the current situation
- Why this is not optimal
- The reason this needs to change
- What's your belief?
- What we believe how things should be / what we want it to be
- What's your proposed solution
- What we're going to do based on our beliefs that will improve the status quo/problem
2. **The Strategy Statement**
- Should be a single sentence that is
- Unambigous
- Practical
- Usable
3. **The Implications**
- Represents the actions that need to be taken
- The goal is to outline the changes necessary to reposition the company/group/product/etc to where it is *obviously* delivering the strategy
- "*Obviously*" should mean that an outside observer could describe the strategy by simply observing what we're doing
- This identification of sets of actions should be broken down into sections for each part of the business - Product, Brand, Engineering, Marketing, etc
4. **The execution Flow**
- To make it actionable and easy to stay on track, the sequence of events and prioritization tasks should be made clear for everyone
